The Carnival of La Vega
Every February, La Vega transforms into the epicenter of Caribbean culture. The Carnival of La Vega is not just a festival — it's a living tradition that dates back over 500 years, making it one of the oldest carnivals in the Americas.
The streets come alive with elaborate devil masks (caretas), vibrant costumes, and the pulsating rhythms of merengue and dembow. Each Sunday in February, thousands gather to witness the spectacular parade of comparsas — dance groups that spend all year preparing their performances.
